Introduction

Welcome to the race info pack for the DTCC Lecht Mini-DH, to be held at Lecht 2090 on Sunday June 18th. This document contains important information for parents/guardians and riders.

Regulations

All racing will be held under Scottish Cycling and British Cycling Technical Regulations.Qualification for the Scottish Cycling Race the Worlds event at Fort William will be subject to the Race The Worlds Series Regulations

Venue & Parking

The race will be held at the Lecht Ski Centre, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park at the top of the pass between Tomintoul and Strathdon. Access is via the A939 Corgarff to Tomintoul Road - there is no public transport to the venue.Parking for racers is in the main car park to the south of the Ski Centre Buildings. Overnight parking is available on Saturday night - the centre will be closed but portaloos are available.Toilets and cafe are located in the main ski-centre building.Nearest A/E Dept: Dr Gray's Hospital, Pluscarden Road, Elgin, IV30 1SN), 0345 456 6000


Registration

Registration will take place in the cafe (upstairs in the main building) and opens at 08:00. Registration will close at 10:00.All riders need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian at sign-on, as they must counter-sign that they are happy for their child to race.At sign-on riders will receive a timing chip which needs to be zip-tied to the lower right fork leg (using the supplied zip-ties).

Race plates must be secured to the bike, either on a number board or by using the supplied zip-ties, for all practice and race runs.


Equipment

The course will be rideable for all MTB bikes with offroad tyres. Hybrid or cyclocross bikes and/or tyres will not be suitable. Riders MUST wear full face helmets while practicing and racing.The minimum recommended clothing for racing mini-DH is as follows:- Full Face Helmet
- Long sleeved jersey
- Full finger gloves
- Knee pads
- Goggles or glasses
Bikes should be in good condition, with working brakes. Bar plugs MUST be fitted and in good condition. Please remove all fittings such as bells, bottle cages, locks.Handlebar mounted Go-Pro cameras are permitted for practice runs, but not for race runs, and no helmet or chest mounted cameras are permitted.


Track Walk and Inspection

The track will be fully taped and open for inspection on foot at 08:00 on race day.


Uplift

The race will use the Lecht 2090 Snowy Owl Chairlift, a 3 person fixed-grip chair fitted with bike racks. Lecht employees and volunteers will help with loading and unloading bikes, and riders in the U10 category should be accompanied by a parent/guardian on each trip.Bike belonging to parents/guardians are not permitted on the uplift - only bikes with a race number will be allowed on track.Uplift will commence at 09:00.In the event of bad weather, riders will push up the main access track to the S of the chairlift.At the top of the lift (trip time c. 5 mins) riders have a short ride/push up to the start area. Please allow around sufficient time to get from the cafe to start area for race runs.


Event Times

The race will be a one day format, with track walk followed by a morning practice session, then afternoon racing. All times are provisional.

Spectators

Due to the nature of the track, a large portion of the track can be viewed from the finish area. If you wish to spectate on other areas of the course, please be aware of the following:1. Please do not walk up the track.
2. If you need to cross the track at any point, please do so at a marshal point and ask the marshal if it is safe to do so before crossing.
3. Keep out of any taped off security zones adjacent to the track.
4. Avoid spectating on the outside of corners.
5. Keep dogs (and children!) under control.
6. Move or alter any part of the course.


Prizegiving

Prizes will be awarded at 16:00 at the main ski centre building.


Race the Worlds

Race the Worlds is a key part of Scottish Cycling’s Ride The Worlds programme which will be delivered throughout Scotland in the lead up to and during August’s World Championship events. Race the Worlds aims to engage with as many cyclists and cycling fans as possible by giving them the opportunity to experience the thrill of the event and inspire them to make cycling a sport for life.Racers must be in the following categories:- U12 Boys / U12 Girls
- U14 Boys / U14 Girls
- U16 Boys / U16 Girls
Qualifiers from the Lecht Mini-DH will be notified by Scottish Cycling after Sunday's event.Race the World Series Regulations (LINK)
